Dog Grooming Policies – Please Read
In this profession, I personally strive for every animal to be have a good experience and have the highest standards in safety and cleanliness. These policies that I have listed are the guidelines that I will use to ensure that your animal has the best spaw day possible.
Pick up and Drop off Time: I only perform one grooming service at a time and at a pace that your pup is comfortable with. Depending on their coat type and behavior, expect them to be with me for about 2 hours unless otherwise discussed. You must be able to pick up within (30) minutes of being informed that your dog is finished. I will be working at a self wash so once I am finished I will take your dog back to my car to wait for you. They will have a potty break with myself before and after the service unless they have already been given one.
Severely Matted Dogs: Small tangles and even one or two mats may be shaved out and blended into the haircut. However any severe matting will need to be shaved underneath the mat to avoid causing unnecessary trauma to the animal. Please note that severe matting when shaved off can cause skin irritation because of a lack of circulation and an accumulation of dirt underneath. It is normal for a dog to itch and scratch after having tight matting shaved but any broken skin could turn into a sore called a hotspot. It is important to either keep the hair shorter so that it doesn’t mat as easily or provide routine maintenance on the coat, brushing and combing with a metal comb from the skin to the end of the hair all over the body. The armpits, belly, groin, tail, and ears mat very easily and can be difficult to brush out completely. You can opt for a shorter cut underneath to cut down on brushing but keep the length on top to cover it.
Senior/Anxious Dogs: Grooming can be a stressful process with loud noises especially for older dogs, those with health conditions, or those who are more anxious. My goal is for your pet to have the best experience possible with the least amount of stress. To ensure this, some grooming services may require lots of breaks or an alternate drying method. Please let me know of any health or behavioral conditions including allergies or sensitivities that your pup may have as it will not automatically disqualify them from a service.
Prepay: To make your checkout process as quick and easy as possible, I take prepay for all of my appointments. Before or during check in, I can take your payment through cash, venmo, or square. Please be aware that a $25 cancellation fee will be added to the following bill for a missed appointment with no notice. Dogs that arrive late for their appointment of more than 15 minutes may have to be re-booked and charged a cancellation fee.
COVID 19: The pandemic has made everything upside down. To ensure your safety and mine, I have a few related precautions. I will be wearing a filtered mask during drop off and pick up times as well as for the duration of the grooming service. I will be using a disinfectant for all tools between grooming services so that all are sterilized before touching your dog. I will provide a slip lead and have you take your harness and/or leash with you to prevent any cross contamination. If you are feeling under the weather or have any COVID related symptoms, please inform me beforehand so that we can discuss our options to maintain social distance during any grooming services.
All of these policies are a work in progress and are subject to change. Thank you for your understanding and for taking the time to read this. I hope you have a wonderful day!
