Hello there!  For those who’ve followed my journey, you know that Pawsh Pet Cafe has been a big part of my life. I became the resident dog groomer there in 2022 and had the incredible opportunity to purchase and run the business at the end of that year. For the next few years, I loved serving our community of pets and their humans, offering grooming services, self-wash options, and a place for dog lovers to connect. Unfortunately, by the end of 2025, the building faced ongoing issues that were no longer feasible to manage. After seeking legal and professional guidance, I made the difficult decision to close Pawsh Pet Cafe. I sold off what I could and transitioned to a new W-2 position to continue supporting myself while staying in the pet industry.  Every 1st and 3rd weekend at Pawsh Pet Cafe, Cheetah Karina Grooming L.L.C will be available for walk in grooming services for your pets. While dogs are my main clientele, I am open to other animal species if they are well behaved. So far I've had success with nice kitties. I have a little booth set up in the Spa located in the Cafe where I can provide quick services starting at $5. I take payment through cash, card, or check.  Good afternoon and happy Friday! I have another important topic to dive into today. Today I will be discussing decompression with a new dog that you've brought into or want to bring to your life. I will be defining decompression in dogs as well as giving you tips from several sources for how to make your new dog's transition into your life easier.  Decompression is an acclimation period for your new companion. Every dog needs a little time to adjust to their new surroundings. While the average decompression time is about two weeks, every dog is unique and may take a longer or shorter time to decompress into their new home. Be aware that while puppies from a breeder need time to decompress, rescue or shelter dogs who have had a more tumultuous time may take months to fully decompress into their new life.  Good afternoon!     Yesterday at our local dog park I was chatting with a woman about her adorable pack of chihuahuas. She asked me if I have any experience with potty training and how she could stop a couple of her pack from constantly marking her furniture in her house. The pups have ample access to the outside and are let out every 45 minutes. While female dogs can also mark their surroundings, this problem is most commonly found in male dogs. Marking is not the same as a normal potty break as it is small amounts of urine that occur in several places. Sometimes dogs can have a favorite place or it can change depending on their environment. I'll admit that I am not a licensed dog trainer but I do love dogs and learning about their behavior. So below are some tips and tricks that I have gathered that may help you tackle this problem.   Echo says that nail trimming is super important! Get a pawdicure every 4-6 weeks! Hello everyone!  I will be at Pawsh Pet Cafe the first and third weekend of every month from 11am until 2pm*. I would love to see your pup and nail trims are just $10! The cafe is full of treats including locally baked goods, apparel, toys of all kinds and even features a self washing station. You can always book additional services with me during the week and even get a nail trim after you've bathed your own pup!  Baby Steps  Echo as baby shark before she had a name #greengirl Baby steps have to start somewhere. I have been so nervous and frankly terrified to put myself out there and really get going on my career. I am going to be using my weekends to intern and shadow an experienced groomer and in the meantime, I need to get my own butt in gear.  While up in my area I have decided to dial back the services that I provide. I hope that this will give me a good balance of hands on experience without any unnecessary stress. At this point in the beginning of my career I am on paper a dog groomer but experience wise I feel more like a glorified dog bather. So until I have more practice and confidence, I am going to believe in this method until it works! I will be updating my policies and probably scrapping my grooming menu for the moment.
