Here is to 2021!

Hello there! My name is Karina and I love animals! I always wanted to work with them when I was a young child and have had many different kinds of animals in my lifetime. I graduated from a state university with a bachelor’s degree in zoology before moving to a busy city! I was unable to find the work that I was looking for so I started working in retail and then eventually in dog daycare. Even though the work was hard, it was incredibly rewarding. I soon fell in love with the art and skill of dog grooming and began pursuing that career with a passion. I also have dreams to become an animal trainer after seeing an amazing side show in an amusement park training rescue animals of all shapes and sizes. Unfortunately when the pandemic hit, I lost my job as a dog groomer after months of being temporarily unemployed. But I took it as an opportunity to stay home and prepare for our newest addition to the family!

In 2020, I married my best friend and we brought home our very first puppy. She is a mix of mostly German Shorthaired Pointer and a pinch of Black Labrador. We named her Echo and for the past two and a half months I have been her trainer and caregiver while my husband works from home. There have been a lot of ups and a few downs but having her has been a true blessing in my life.

Now that 2021 is here, I have decided that it is time to venture out on my own and start my career as soon as possible. I have almost two years of just dog grooming under my belt and over 3 years now in dog care. I am excited for what the future holds and I hope that you are too!

 Good afternoon and happy Friday! I have another important topic to dive into today. Today I will be discussing decompression with a new dog that you've brought into or want to bring to your life. I will be defining decompression in dogs as well as giving you tips from several sources for how to make your new dog's transition into your life easier.  Decompression is an acclimation period for your new companion. Every dog needs a little time to adjust to their new surroundings. While the average decompression time is about two weeks, every dog is unique and may take a longer or shorter time to decompress into their new home.   Echo says that nail trimming is super important! Get a pawdicure every 4-6 weeks! Hello everyone!  I will be at Pawsh Pet Cafe the first and third weekend of every month from 11am until 2pm*. I would love to see your pup and nail trims are just $10! The cafe is full of treats including locally baked goods, apparel, toys of all kinds and even features a self washing station.
